World Championship in Qatar and Russia. Great for publicity and income, but does it weigh up to the costs and social consequences it requires? This might be and stay a question unanswered, but a positive side-effect of this all is that these countries require some (read; a lot) new infrastructural elements and all other forms of architecture, e.g. stadiums, multi-functional facilities, etc. Key-words in this might be urban context and grandure, like in the works of Peter Eisenman. When we view any of the sketched designs by architects of any of the stadiums they all show some form of grandure and reflect some form of urban context. Prognoses say the architecture that is being sprayed all over the countries that host the WC really do improve the conditions in these locations. So other than it's social and political impact the FIFA brings into these countries, it also gives us great architecture.
